3-Vehicle Accident on 22 Freeway Injures 6

|

Six people were injured Monday night in a three-car crash on the 22 freeway.

The accident happened on the eastbound 22 freeway, just after 7:30 p.m. near the Beach Blvd. exit.

According to Capt. Marc Stone of the Orange County Fire Authority, the cause of the collision was not immediately known. A witness to the crash, Todd Doyle, an Irvine resident, saw the accident as he was heading home from work. According to Doyle, an SUV driver spun and almost collided with his Toyota Corolla before the SUV slammed into the center divider. In his mirror, Doyle then witnesses a second car strike the SUV. A third car, which attempted to swerve around the accident, then struck the center divider.

Six people were injured in the multi-vehicle accident. Three people suffered serious injuries and were transported to trauma centers at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and UCI Medical Center. The remaining three injured parties were transported to West Anaheim Medical Center.
