A hit and run driver struck a
pedestrian in Garden Grove on Thursday. The victim was then struck by a second car.
The accident happened at about 6:40 p.m. The 54-year-old victim, Gregory Martin, was crossing West Street near Garden Grove Blvd. He was not in a crosswalk. Guadalupe Quinonez, driving a Dodge Magnum, struck Martin, and then kept going. A second driver, driving a Ford Explorer, struck Martin moments later, and dragged Martin 750 feet. The driver of the Explorer thought he was dragging debris and figured it would dislodge if he kept driving. He eventually stopped, looked under his vehicle, and saw the victim.
Martin was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries. He is in critical condition.
The Explorer driver was released after giving a statement to police.
Another driver followed the hit and run driver Quinonez. Quinonez had her 7-year-old daughter in the vehicle. Quinonez drove to her residence, left her daughter with an acquaintance, then left her residence on foot, leaving her Dodge Magnum on the street.
Quinonez, 29-years-old, later turned herself in to the police department. She was booked on felony hit and run, driving with a suspended license, and child endangerment, since her daughter was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
