|

On Tuesday evening, a pickup truck struck and injured a pedestrian who was crossing Pacific Coast Highway near the Malibu Pier. According to Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station Sergeant Philip Brooks, pedestrian Catherine Carlson, 56, a resident of Santa Monica, was crossing PCH at about 5:30 p.m. when she was struck by a 51-year-old driver from Ojai, who was driving a 2009 Dodge Ram.

The pedestrian, who suffered serious injuries, was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center. She may have suffered a broken back.

According to witnesses, the pedestrian was at fault. She was wearing earbud headphones as she crossed PCH. Witnesses told law enforcement officials that traffic was heavy and the truck appeared to be traveling at no more than 30 mph.
