Pedestrian Hit by Car Near Santa Monica Place

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car today near the Santa Monica Place.

The accident happened about 10:50 a.m. The pedestrian, an adult female, was crossing Colorado Ave. at or near a marked crosswalk between Santa Monica Place and the Sears building.

The pedestrian suffered severe injuries, said Sergeant Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica Police Department. She was transported to a local hospital.

According to Sgt. Lewis, police are still investigating whether the pedestrian was in the crosswalk when she was hit. The driver of the car stopped and cooperated with police after the accident.
