Multi-Vehicle Crash in Sepulveda Pass Injures 5

|

Five people suffered serious injuries during rush-hour traffic Friday evening in a head-on multi-vehicle crash in the Sepulveda Pass.

The accident happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Sepulveda Blvd., between Mulholland and Getty Center Dr.

The collision occurred when two young men, who were driving a black Infiniti G35, drove on the wrong side of the road on southbound Sepulveda. The driver then lost control of the vehicle and smashed into an oncoming Honda Civic. Two other cars, a Mercedes and a Honda CRV, then collided while trying to avoid the accident.

Five people were injured and transported to local hospitals. The two young men in the Infiniti suffered life-threatening injuries. One victim had to be extricated from the wreckage with the jaws of life.

Authorities do not know how fast the Infiniti was going; there are reports that it was traveling at in excess of 100 mph. The speed on southbound Sepulveda at that location is 35 mph. Drag racing and alcohol have been ruled out as possible causes.
