Motorcyclist Injured by Left-Turning Driver in Oxnard

|

A motorcyclist was struck by a left-turning vehicle in Oxnard on Saturday morning.

The accident happened about 7:50 a.m. A motorcyclist was southbound on Ventura Rd. A van, heading northbound on Ventura Rd., attempted to turn left onto 2nd St. and slammed into the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist suffered a broken right leg and right arm, and was transported by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center.

One of the most common causes of motorcycle accidents involves a motorcyclist being hit by a left-turning vehicle. The motor vehicle driver is inattentive and doesn't see the approaching motorcyclist, or underestimates the motorcyclist's speed. The driver collides with the motorcyclist, or the motorcyclist is forced to lay the bike down.
