Drunk Driver Injured in Accident on Palisades Dr.

|

A drunk driver was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Palisades Dr. in Pacific Palisades on August 27th.

The accident happened at 5:05 p.m. The DUI driver, a 42-year-old woman who is a resident of Pacific Palisades, was driving a black 2007 Mercedes. She was traveling up Palisades Dr., past the stop sign at Vereda de la Montura, when she took the curve too fast. The driver overcorrected by swerving to her right, towards the Palisades Villas townhouses.

The drunk driver struck a parked 2011 Honda Pilot. The Pilot was knocked up onto the sidewalk and onto its side. The Mercedes also went up onto the curb and slammed into a low wall.

The drunk driver was injured and transported to a local hospital.

Palisades Villas resident Arthur Hoyle heard the crash. According to Hoyle, cars routinely speed on Palisades Dr. above the Palisades Circle traffic signal. Hoyle says that despite numerous serious injury and fatal accidents, there is no traffic enforcement. The Palisades Villas homeowners' association president says there have been many accidents at this same location. Though the posted speed limit on Palisades Dr. is 35 mph, people drive at insane speeds on this stretch of Palisades Dr., according to Hoyle.
