Elderly Driver Kills Pedestrian in Mar Vista Post Office Parking Lot

An elderly driver struck and killed an elderly pedestrian on Monday in the parking lot of a Mar Vista Post Office in West Los Angeles.

The accident happened at 10 a.m. at the post office located at the corner of Venice Blvd. and Grandview Blvd. The 91-year old driver of a red 1987 Mitsubishi Montero was backing her SUV up when she struck a 74-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man who were in the parking lot. Both victims were Los Angeles residents.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was transported to the hospital with severe injuries, including a leg injury, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver was interviewed by officers and released at the scene.
