On August 7th at about 2:30 a.m., a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near Main St. and Ashland Ave. in Santa Monica. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

On August 2nd at about 1 a.m., a male pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle in the 3100 block of Santa Monica Blvd. in Santa Monica. The driver was later identified and arrested. Nicolas Ralph Sloan, age 29, from Culver City, was charged by police with murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and driving under the influence.

Prior to the August 2nd crash, the driver was at Santa Monica restaurant Busby’s West. Staff asked him to leave. As he was leaving, Sloan, driving a dark-colored Porsche Panamera, struck the victim, an individual unknown to him, and then fled.
