4 Dead, 1 Injured in Fontana Crash

A two-vehicle intersection crash in Fontana Sunday killed an 11-year-old boy and three brothers, and left one person injured.

The accident happened at 9:35 p.m. on Baseline Ave. near Cherry Ave. An SUV traveling eastbound on Baseline Ave. struck a Nissan sedan that was traveling southbound on Cherry Ave. The SUV then ricocheted off the Nissan and wrapped around a light pole.

Four people died in the crash. An 11-year-old passenger in the sedan, Noah Ferrer of Fontana, died while in surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center Monday morning. The35-year-old driver of the SUV, a Rancho Cucamonga resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Also pronounced dead at the scene was his brother, a 39-year-old resident of Bloomington. Pronounced dead at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center was their 37-year-old brother, a Fontana resident.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol, drugs or speeding were a cause of the vehicle collision.
