Hit-and-Run Accident in South Los Angles Leaves 2 Dead

A hit-and-run accident in South Los Angeles early Saturday morning left two people dead.

The accident happened at about 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of Central Ave. and Gage Ave. Armando Aceves, a 47-year-old postal worker from Covina, was on his way to work. He was only three months on the job. Aceves's Honda sedan was rear-ended by a speeding Monte Carlo. The driver of the Monte Carlo and one of his passengers fled the scene of the accident on foot.

Aceves was pronounced dead at the scene. The front seat passenger in the Monte Carlo, 20-year-old Luigi Velasquez was also pronounced dead at the scene. Velasquez was the owner of the hit-and-run vehicle and the brother of the driver. A backseat passenger in the Monte Carlo was transported to a local hospital with head injuries.

Open containers of alcohol were found in the Monte Carlo.
