Motorcyclist Killed in PCH Crash Near Malibu

|

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway.

The accident happened about 6:20 a.m. The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old male from Ventura, was southbound on PCH, just west of Sycamore Canyon. The driver of a 2001 Nissan Maxima, a 20-year-old female, was also southbound on PCH, in the process of turning left into a campground parking lot. According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist tired to pass the Nissan on the left side and the two vehicles collided. The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike.

The motorcyclist, identified only as a State Parks maintenance employee, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan driver was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation. According to the CHP, drugs and alcohols are not suspected to be factors in the collision.
