Big Rig Crash Kills 1, Injures 4 in Lake View Terrance

|

A collision involving a big rig, a dump truck, an SUV and a pickup truck left one person dead and four people injured in Lake View Terrance on Friday.

The accident happened just before 6:40 a.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, a big rig went off an Interstate 210 off-ramp, causing the multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Paxton St. and Foothill Blvd. The big rig driver apparently lost control while having a coughing fit and careened down an embankment of the eastbound 210 onto surface streets.

Photos of the scene of the accident show several mangled vehicles, one of which had rolled over.

The driver of the pickup truck, 32-year-old Jorge Luis Garcia-Lara, a Sylmar resident, was killed in the crash. Four others, including a passenger in the pickup, were transported to local hospitals.
