Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Motorcyclist & Injures Cyclist's Passenger

A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a motorcyclist early Saturday morning, and critically injured the motorcyclist's passenger.

The accident happened at about 3:40 a.m. at the intersection of De Soto Ave. and Saticoy St. in Canoga Park. A black Nissan truck was speeding westbound on Saticoy when the driver veered into oncoming lanes and struck the motorcycle, which was turning left. The driver of the Nissan fled the scene, never stopping.

The driver of the motorcycle was killed in the crash. A female passenger on the motorcycle was hospitalized with critical injuries.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division, the crash damaged the truck's windshield and the truck's front grill was recovered at the scene. The debris field later led police to the truck's driver, who was questioned by officers. The investigation is ongoing.
