Drop in California Drunk Driving Deaths

|

In 2010, 791 people died in drunk driving accidents in California. That's a drop from the 950 drunk driving deaths in California in 2009. According to the Office of Traffic Safety, that is the largest yearly drop in drunk driving deaths in the last 14 years.

The Office of Transportation Safety credits some of the reduction to the record number of DUI checkpoints conducted in 2010. The decline in DUI deaths is also attributed to local police agencies teaming with the California Highway Patrol to catch impaired drivers, and various anti-DUI endeavors by the DMV, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the entertainment industry, and others.

If you or someone you care about has been the victim of a drunk driving accident, speak to a Santa Monica personal injury attorney at McGee, Lerer and Associates about your right to compensation. We can arrange for immediate medical treatment with the appropriate specialist. If you need surgery, we can arrange for surgery on a lien basis, which means that the surgeon and surgical facility agree to wait to be paid until your case is resolved.
